In 1991, became the first US based jockey to win a European Classic, taking the Irish Two Thousand Guineas with Fourstars Allstar.

Survived two accidents in one year (1998):
Gulfstream Park, fell and fractured his shoulder in 3 places, and broke his collarbone.
He returned 3 months later, to fall at Saratoga and fracture two vertebrae.
